1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Middle of Countries website (middleofcountries.github.io) and its associated data, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use this service.

2. Description of Service

Middle of Countries provides a publicly accessible database of geographic centroids (geographic centers) for sovereign nations worldwide. The data is calculated using the Area-Weighted Centroid algorithm on the WGS84 ellipsoid and is intended for educational, research, and informational purposes.

3. Permitted Uses

The following uses are permitted without prior written consent:

Personal, educational, and academic research use
Non-commercial journalism and reporting
Open-source software projects (with attribution)
Non-profit organizational use
Teaching and classroom instruction

Attribution requirement: All permitted uses must include the following attribution: "Geographic centroid data provided by Middle of Countries (middleofcountries.github.io)"

4. Commercial Use

Commercial use of the Middle of Countries data, including but not limited to:

Integration into commercial software products or APIs
Use in paid services or subscription platforms
Resale or redistribution of the data
Use in advertising or marketing materials

5. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

While we strive for the highest possible accuracy, geographic centroid calculations are subject to inherent limitations:

Margin of error: ±3–7 metres depending on boundary data resolution
Calculations are based on available boundary data and may not reflect recent territorial changes
Island nations and countries with complex coastlines may have higher uncertainty

Middle of Countries makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose of the data provided.

6. Intellectual Property

The Middle of Countries database, website design, algorithms, and associated documentation are protected by copyright. The underlying geographic boundary data is sourced from open datasets (Natural Earth, GADM) and is subject to their respective licenses.

7. Privacy and Data Protection (GDPR/KVKK)

Middle of Countries does not collect personal data beyond standard web server logs (IP addresses, browser type, access times). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising networks, or third-party analytics that collect personal information.

In accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK No. 6698), users have the right to:

Request deletion of their data
Object to data processing
